This database covers many issues concerning the usage of X-chromosomal markers for forensic purpose

Kits including X-linked STR markers

X-chromosomal STR multiplex kits supplement Y-chromosomal products for kinship and paternity testing especially in complicated deficiency cases. The following kits are/were commerically available:

Mentype® Argus X-UL PCR Amplification Kit

During the years 2003-2008 the Mentype® Argus X-UL PCR Amplification Kit from Biotype AG has been the first available kit that amplifies the four X-chromosomal STR markers DXS7132, DXS7423, DXS8378 and HPRTB as well as Amelogenin for gender determination simultaneously. Thus, one marker per linkage group can be analysed.

Mentype® Argus X-8 PCR Amplification Kit

Since April 2005 the Mentype® Argus X-8 PCR Amplification Kit from Biotype is available for analysing eight x-chromosomal STR markers. The eight markers DXS7132, DXS7423, DXS8378, DXS10074, DXS10101, DXS10134, DXS10135, and HPRTB, as well as Amelogenin for gender determination are amplified simultaneously. Two markers per linkage group have been chosen [group 1 (Xp22): DXS8378/DXS10135, group 2 (Xq11): DXS7132/DXS10134, group 3 (Xq26): HPRTB/DXS10101, group 4 (Xq28): DXS7423/DXS100749]. Thus, two markers of each group have to be handled as haplotype for genotyping. The primers are labelled with 6-FAM or HEX.

Investigator Argus X-12 PCR Amplification Kit - QIAGEN’s latest x-chromosomal kit is now available!

The so called Investigator Argus X-12 PCR Amplification Kit amplifies simultaneously the 12 markers DXS7132, DXS7423, DXS8378, DXS10074, DXS10079, DXS10101, DXS10103, DXS10134, DXS10135, DXS10146, DXS10148 and HPRTB as well as Amelogenin for gender determination. Three markers per linkage group have been chosen [group 1 (Xp22): DXS8378/DXS10135/DXS10148, group 2 (Xq11): DXS7132/DXS10134/DXS10079, group 3 (Xq26): HPRTB/DXS10101/SXS10103, group 4 (Xq28): DXS7423/DXS100749/DXS10146]. Thus, three markers of each group have to be handled as haplotype for genotyping.

X-Decaplex (inhouse-Kit)

In a collaborative work carried out by the Spanish and Portuguese ISFG Working Group (GEP-ISFG), a polymerase chain reaction multiplex was optimized in order to type ten X-chromosome short tandem repeats (STRs) in a single reaction, including: DXS8378, DXS9902, DXS7132, DXS9898, DXS6809, DXS6789, DXS7133, GATA172D05, GATA31E08, and DXS7423.
